My introduction to fine art glass and antiques began in 1975 with the purchase
of my first piece of
Steuben
Aurene and a piece of Tiffany Favrile. Art glass became
a fascination and I soon
opened an antique
shop and stained glass studio
in Grosse Pointe, Michigan
The facination continued and I undertook the repair of Tiffany and Tiffany-type
lamps and windows
around the Michigan area. I also bought and sold fine
American and European decorative art glass from the 19th and 20th Centurys.
Many superlative pieces of the Art Nouveau period of art glass have
passed through my
hands and I took care to study them all.
Works by Tiffany, Steuben, Queza, Durand and Loetz in Austria
have left an indelible impression
providing
inspiration
for my artistic endeavors.
In 2004, as a self-taught artist I began blowing decorated art glass
and
my efforts centered on techniques
and designs peculiar to the
Art Nouveau era of iridescent art glass.
From 2008-2013 my art glass was on display
and for sale at the Detroit
Institute
of Arts Museum Shop. I was also
commissioned to create
twenty-two special pieces to be gifted by the DIA
as thanks
to
their top twenty-two donors.
2019 to present - I have retired and for my own personal enjoyment
I am now hand-painting
glass blanks with landscape and floral scenes
inspired by the artistic glass
made by the amazing
glass artists of the
19th and 20th Century.
Each piece of Odyssey Art Glass is individually hand-blown,
hand-crafted or hand-painted
using only the finest materials
available.
You can be assured that you have in your possession
an enduring,
entirely unique piece of art glass,
the only one of its kind.
